AdvantageNewcastle October Workshops

BusinessLab will be running a series of workshops during the w/c October 10th as part of the AdvantageNewcastle process. This is a process to engage businesses in the city-region with the public sector, third sector and academia to conceptualise a small number of demonstrator projects that will help to consolidate the region's strengths relating to the ageing demographic.

As part of this process we will be running 4 themed workshops in Newcastle starting on Monday 10th. These will last no more than 2 hours and by participating you can help shape thinking on what needs to be done to help businesses capitalise on the economic opportunities of the ageing demographic.

ActiveAge to participate in BRAID workshop in Copenhagen

ActiveAge has been asked to take part in the Bridging Research in Ageing and ICT Development (BRAID) workshop in Copenhagen this June. BRAID is an 
EU FP7 Support Action funded programme. The project started in Mar of 2010 and will last until Mar of 2012.

BRAID aims to develop a comprehensive Research and Technological Development (RTD) roadmap for active ageing by consolidating existing roadmaps and by describing and launching a stakeholder co-ordination and consultation mechanism.

ActiveAge will give feedback on the BRAID roadmap and discuss the consortium's experience of collaboration.

The future is here - in the city of Newcastle!

Newcastle has been cited in the November issue of Ageing in Place Technology Watch as 'the future' in terms of ageing.

The Technology Watch website – a global reference point for thought leadership, innovation and analysis of technologies and services to aid independent living - refers glowingly to the Microsoft Corporation/ActiveAge presentation given at the Gerontological Society of America's annual conference in New Orleans in November.
