ActiveAge presents at Super Mondays "Super Ageing" event
Tuesday, 21 September 2010

On Tuesday 31 August, ActiveAge took the ageing issue to Super Mondays - a strong and vibrant community of IT enthusiasts based in the North East of England.

Super Mondays meet up once a month for a range of IT user group meetings and some unstructured discussions. There is no membership, no fees and no rules. The community, they say, is basically undefined.

At this special 'SuperAgeing' event Gregor Rae, Chairman of BusinessLab, gave an insight into how ActiveAge is identifying the market opportunities presented by an ageing population.

Andy Hudson introduced 'Alex' the ‘easy computing’ programme for the older user, including programmes for email, web and office.

Sanjeet Pakrasi demonstrated 'Connectforcare', a product which aims to improve the quality of life of older people by providing remote face-to-face contact with family and friends through the use of webcams.

Finally, Paul Watson, Director of the Digital Institute and Professor of Computer Science at Newcastle University discussed Pervasive Computing for an Ageing Population and described Culture Lab’s age-related research.

The event was sponsored by ActiveAge partners Newcastle Science City.
